how it works
As the wheel rotates, the sealant spreads evenly over the inside surface of the tyre. Immediately a puncture occurs, air pressure in the tyre forces thousands of tiny fibres and fillers suspended in the sealant to interlock, forming a permanent plug which prevents any further air loss. This is a mechanical process not a chemical reaction.
The action will be completed within 2 or 3 revolutions of the wheel and happens so fast that the driver is unlikely to know that a puncture has occurred. If on inspection the cause of the puncture is still there, it can be removed.

WHY IT WORKS
Strong synthetic fibres such as those used in bullet-proof vests constitute the backbone of the sealant. The stronger the fibres and the more varied their length, the faster the seal forms and the more permanent the repair becomes. These sealants meet the design specifications for all types of tyre and conditions where they are used.
Once a strong plug is formed by the fibres, the final seal is provided by organic filler particles which lodge between the fibres to form an effective airtight plug. These are imperative for a high-performance sealant.
The sealant liquid is the medium by which the fibres and fillers reach the area of the puncture. Our products contain anti-corrosive inhibitors which will prevent any damage to the rim or tyre.

APPLYING EXPEDITION GRADE TYRE SEALANT TO SERVICEABLE TYRE
Before applying tyre sealant, the wheels should be balanced. Sealant is therefore best applied as soon as new tyres are fitted.
1. Remove the tyre valve core using a valve core removal tool.
2. Extend the tube on the Tyre Sealant bottle by pulling upwards on the cap, then pull off the cap itself.
3. Place the tube over the valve core and hold it firmly in place with one hand.
4. Using other hand, squeeze the Tyre Sealant bottle until the correct amount has been applied.
5. Wipe the valve clean and use air compressor to gently blow any excess sealant into the tyre.
6. Re-insert valve core and inflate tyre to manufacturers recommended pressure.
7. Refit cap and push tube back into bottle.
APPLYING EXPEDITION GRADE TYRE SEALANT TO A PUNCTURED TYRE
If the tyres are old and out of balance you may experience a slight vibration at speed.
1. Secure vehicle with chocks and jack up punctured tyre.
2. Follow steps 1 to 6.
3. Rotate wheel to distribute sealant throughout tyre and seal puncture.
4. Re-check tyre pressures before lowering vehicle to the ground and moving off.

What types of vehicles can Expedition Grade Tyre Sealant be installed in?
Expedition Grade tyre sealant can be used in any pneumatic tyre, both tubed and tubeless in small cars undertaking banger rallies to large overland trucks.
How will I benefit if I install Expedition Grade tyre sealant?
Our sealants can stop up to 95% of punctures in the tread area from the usual causes. Slow air leaks are eliminated which means longer tyre life, lower fuel consumption and maximum vehicle range.
Most blowouts are caused by excessive heat build up in the tyre almost always caused by under inflation. Slow air leaks increase this risk but are prevented if Expedition Grade tyre sealant is used.
Equally important is the fact that Expedition Grade tyre sealant is homogeneous and will not separate at any speed or when the vehicle is stationary.
Will conventional tyre repair procedures be prevented?
No. If the tyre is damaged beyond the ability of the sealant to plug the hole, the tyre can be repaired with a ‘patch’. The tyre repairer simply needs to wipe the area around the hole clean and then wipe it with a water soaked rag. The tyre can then be repaired using normal methods. It is not necessary to remove the remaining sealant but if there has been a significant loss, it should be replaced. Care is necessary to avoid the contamination of the sealant during the repair.
Is Expedition Grade tyre sealant effective in both tubeless and tubed tyres?
Yes in both types. It is up to 95% effective in tubeless and 75% in tubed tyres.
Can Expedition Grade tyre sealant be used to repair a punctured tyre?
Yes. It is possible but its main purpose is to stop punctures. Not every puncture can be prevented, but before treating the tyre it will be necessary to have an air compressor or foot pump available to re-inflate the tyre to its correct pressure. When installation is completed, the wheel must be rotated immediately by spinning it by hand if the vehicle is raised on a jack, or by driving a short distance to allow the plug to be formed to seal the hole.
Is it necessary to fully deflate the tyre before installing the sealant?
Yes. The valve core must be removed and the tyre fully deflated in order to apply Expedition Grade tyre sealant.
Is Expedition Grade tyre sealant plug permanent?
Yes. A permanent repair is achieved by the interlocking fibres and fillers creating a flexible plug in the tyre wound.
How long will Expedition Grade tyre sealant last?
For the legal life of the tyre and beyond. The sealant will not react with the rubber and other constituent materials in the tyre. Most importantly, the components of the sealant will not separate in use. The sealant carries no expiration date either, so can be re-used.
Is Expedition Grade tyre sealant expensive?
We are confident that our sealant has the best technology and cost benefits which give excellent value for money for the tyres of every vehicle which is treated. One application into the tyre will typically cost LESS than one puncture repair.
Is the amount of Expedition Grade tyre sealant installed in the tyre important?
Yes. It is most important that the recommendation quantities are installed in the tyre to be treated. The recommended application rates will ensure the maximum benefit and give protection for the legal life of the tyre.
When I get a puncture, should I let the vehicle stand while the plug cures?
No. In fact the tyre should be used at once. The more the vehicle is used, the better the plug will be. If you remove a puncturing object, we recommend that you immediately use the vehicle. Rotation of the tyres is important in the sealing process. The plug is mechanically formed; it is not a chemical reaction. The plug is formed within seconds and the puncture is sealed with almost no air loss. With Expedition Grade tyre sealant you may not even know you have had a puncture.
Does Expedition Grade tyre sealant have a shelf life?
No. Expedition Grade tyre sealant has an indefinite life span. After installing the sealant into the tyre, if any remains in the bottle simply re-apply the cap to avoid the possibility that some ‘skinning’ may form. Should this happen, it will easily be stirred in ready for the next installation.
Will Expedition Grade tyre sealant corrode or rust my wheels?
No. There will be no corrosion or rust. Aluminium rims are also protected.
Could Expedition Grade tyre sealant corrode the steel belting in my tyres?
No. Expedition Grade tyre sealant provides three way protection. Firstly, corrosion inhibitors in the formulations will protect the steel belting. Second, the plug formed by the sealant will keep water from penetrating through the hole in the tyre into the belting. Third by keeping the tyre inflated, the normal pressure is maintained which in turn prevents inward water seepage.
Could Expedition Grade tyre sealant damage the rubber or other materials used in the wheel/tyre assembly?
No. There is no reaction between the sealants and these materials.
Does Expedition Grade tyre sealant require shaking or stirring before installation?
No. Expedition Grade tyre sealant is supplied ready for use and shaking or stirring is not needed as the product will not separate.
Is Expedition Grade tyre sealant water washable?
Yes. Expedition Grade tyre sealant is water washable and does not stick to the tyre rims and beads. When necessary it can be easily flushed out of the tyre with cold water.
Is Expedition Grade tyre sealant a hazard to the environment?
No. Expedition Grade tyre sealant contains propylene glycol which is also used in anti freeze products and not regarded as hazardous. These formulations do not contain either caustic or acidic materials. If there is a spillage, clean up using absorbent materials and wash down the area with water.
Is exposure of Expedition Grade tyre sealant hazardous to humans?
Expedition Grade tyre sealant is neither acidic nor caustic and contains no volatile organic compounds. Propylene glycol is safe to handle but we recommend the use of safety glasses or a face shield and gloves during installation. Wash with soap and water after handling the product. The product must not be swallowed: a large quantity could cause illness or even death. C.O.S.H.H. Substance Reports are available.
Will Expedition Grade tyre sealant freeze in cold weather?
The freeze point of Expedition Grade tyre sealant is below -35ºC.
Expedition Grade tyre sealant is RED in colour.
• Expedition Grade tyre sealant has an indefinite shelf life and are non-reactive
• It will not react with the tyre rubber and do not polymerise, vulcanise or cure.
• Expedition Grade tyre sealant will not separate.
• It is reusable and when removed from a worn tyre will be equally effective in another tyre. Our chemist has a sample that was removed from a road going vehicle that had accumulated over 300,000 miles – the life of three tyres and is still fully functional and could be used today.
• Expedition Grade tyre sealant will not stick to the tyre or wheel rim and therefore can be easily removed from the tyre with cold water.
Conventional tyre repair procedures and tyre re-treading will not be affected.
• Expedition Grade tyre sealant is corrosion resistant for ferrous and yellow metals.
• Freezing point is below -35 degrees Centigrade.
• Expedition Grade tyre sealant is classed as a fire retardant; many other tyre sealants are flammable, especially when under pressure.
