Will Clough - Series Producer

DSCF2408 - 1500

Will and his fellow TV colleague Jack Burnford will be putting together the television coverage of the record attempt, documenting the preparation and realisation of the record challenge. They will be doing their share of driving, but also filming and editing the TV shows as they travel, whilst providing video blogs, news feeds and mobile content to the worlds press as they travel.

Will Clough is the Director of Limpet Productions, which was formed in 2006. A freelance TV Series Director and Producer by trade, he worked at the BBC for 16 years on many Outside Broadcast projects in the Events department. These included Royal Events such as Princess Diana’s funeral, the Trooping of the Colour and the D Day commemorations.

He enjoys the splendid variety of his job, and has worked abroad on many interesting projects including many of the “Worlds Strongest Man” shows in locations like Zambia, The Bahamas, America and the Far East, and has recently returned from 7 weeks Series Directing the very popular BBC1 Saturday night show “Total Wipeout” for Endemol in Argentina.

Every day brings a new challenge on a foreign location and this is what motivates Will. Definitely a “people person” he enjoys finding the answers to difficult problems and solving them in a practical and sometimes lateral way, but always with a smile and good humour. The challenge of directing and working with foreign crews, equipment and new environments is what he enjoys and this trip should certainly deliver on that front. Will is an avid reader and the chance to be a part of an expedition, that would normally be a boys own story on his bookshelf is really fantastic. He is looking forward very much to learning new skills and great experiences on the road with Mac and the superbly skilled team.

Will has travelled far and wide to Africa, South and Central America, Asia and North America. Having been a Sea Scout (sure those knots will come in useful!), he has always been a practical chap. Once in a broken down Land Rover in Africa, miles from anywhere, he got things moving again using the old “egg white in the radiator” trick, and there’s not much he hasn’t repaired with a Leatherman tool, cable ties and gaffer tape!. He likes self teaching new skills when necessary or interesting, and is also a lifelong Chilli fiend, enjoying the many culinary delights that are encountered around the world on his travels – any street food stalls always have to be stopped at and new food tasted, but this trip may mean passing them at speed.

Will, a farmers son, learnt to drive in his grandfather's Series II Landrover and has always had a love of all things automotive. Having owned a classic Jaguar and large engined Alfa (which of course blew up!), he’s currently the proud owner of a Landrover Defender 110. He also enjoys life on 2 wheels and with the BMW R100GS Adventure motorbike now sold, likes to ride his Suzuki Hayabusa or more retro Kawasaki 1100 Zephyr on the back roads near home.

When not working, Will is bringing up his young family in a small cottage beside a field back in his home county of Suffolk (it’s a nice field mind you!)

As usual, pushed my brinkmanship to the limit and made the flight out to Norway by a very reasonable 1½ minutes to lockdown

Tough, but exciting

"Does that refer to me, or the London to Cape Town record attempt?"
