What an Honour

What a great start to the weekend...
I was outside, under the bonnet of one of my Land Rovers when the postman turned up with a smart looking letter. On the back were clearly marked the initials 'SM', my heart momentarily stopped. Had Stirling Moss agreed to honour the team with his patronage for our London to Cape Town record attempt, or was it a polite 'No thank you.'
I quickly rubbed my hands free of oil and grease and carefully opened up the letter. I couldn't believe it - it was 'Yes,I'd be delighted!'
This is a huge honour, not just for me, but the entire team and all the supporters and sponsors that have helped us get this far. This excellent news and Patronage from the most respected man in motoring will fuel our drive even further to achieve our goal - excuse the pun re 'fuelling our drive!'
I called co-driver Chris and marketing manager Ruth straight away with the news (oh yes, shouted through to my partner Lisa as well!) and they were as equally thrilled as I am.
I have every intention of honouring Stirling Moss's patronage by conducting the London to Cape Town expedition in the most professional way. It will be a privilage to follow in the footsteps of the great moroting pioneers, of which Sir Stirling is undoubtedly one.
