I had a chat with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall on Wednesday and he said he's keen to get on board and would love to help. He lives near me in east Devon and owns a small shop in our local town of Axminster.
I also rang Land Rover in Exeter with regards to reliability of the Discovery 2 Td5's. They told me that the main problme with the Td5 was the fuel system. A few of the hoses could give us problems and it would be a good idea to sleive them for longer life.
Rations could be a problem as we need more to supplement what Look What We Found are supplying to us. At fist there seemed to be hope ofm scrounging some off my military contacts, but cut backs seem to be causing a few problems, so we may have to dip into our own pockets if we can't get them all free.
I also went around Axminster to speak to a few shop owners and let them know what we are up to. Many of them have agreed to put up posters advertisingthe trip to promotoe our fund raising. I also had a chat with the local paper, who are keen to follow our progress.
