I had an email from the Editor of Land Rover World magazine today with an offer to help us with our London to Cape Town record attempt. Such is the support for our chosen charity, Help for Heroes, the magazine were offering us the loan of a Discovery 2 that they had completed as a project vehicle.
Unfortunately it’s a right hand drive model and we need a left hand drive due to one of the countries on our route banning RHD vehicles. Still, it was incredibly generous of them to consider helping us out with such a kind offer.
The Land Rover community might be frowned upon by many outsiders due to the whole ‘green’ protests towards them these days, but one thing is for sure - they are extremely proud of their country and will always go to the aid of those in need when required. How many Land Rovers were out on the roads of Britain when we had all that bad snow helping people? I know I was patrolling around until the small hours recovering cars and even rescuing an ambulance and I met quite a few others doing the same.
What we need now is the same Land Rover community to help us with our goal of raising £100,000 for Help for Heroes. If each reader of a Land Rover magazine donated just £1 to our Justgiving site, we’d reach our goal.
